Who is sitting in front of the MacBook writing this stuff, anyway? I guess you’re interested (or at least curious) enough to find out since you’re on this page. So here’s the low-down. I’m a woman, wife, and mom. My husband, who is my remarkable partner in every sense of the word, can’t figure out what the hell I’m always doing on the computer (as much as I can’t figure out why his crack Blackberry is never turned off). I’m truly fascinated by the millions of pages of information on the Internet. Of course, you wouldn’t have found me poring over the Encyclopedia Britannica back when I was a kid, although I did love to read. (You may have noted in my first post that I’m an editor.)
Motherhood struck me in my early 30s. This has definitely been the best decade of my life to date. It’s truly amazing to watch my child learn and grow. Everything about him is so fascinating! I want to be the best mother I can be; for me, that is far more important than my job, which is why I began working from home last summer. Sure, it stalled my potential career path, but I find it much more rewarding to pick up my son after school and help him with his homework. (Not to mention the financial rewards of not paying daycare!)
I make jewellery. Or, at least I try. Sometimes there just isn’t the time, sometimes I’m just lazy. It’s certainly not for a lack of supplies. My goal is to create that special design, get a line going, and sell it to some of the local businesses (salons, clothing shops, etc.). I live in a town north of Toronto and have no desire to try and make it big in the city. I like my town and I’d love to make a name for myself here. It’ll take time and patience, but hey, I’m not going anywhere.
Hey Ainse, Are you going to make anymore necklaces like your Spring Bliss? If so, I want to put my order in, but for a slightly longer chain.
Jenn
