iCraft!

Posted by: ainse on: March 31, 2008

Whee, I’m very excited to have found iCraft.ca! It’s another site for selling your handmade items. Don’t get me wrong, I love Etsy, but iCraft is Canadian-based! (But global in its membership.) It looks so awesome; clean, bright, and fun. It’s still really new; there are just over 1,000 sellers so far [...]

Snow, snow, go away…

Posted by: ainse on: March 28, 2008

I’m sick of the snow.
I want to wear my nice shoes!
Lovely brown Sketchers.

When will it all melt?
My son’s snowpants are a mess.
The snow now looks gross.

Crusty, hard and brown.
Yellow from where the dogs pee.
It just really sucks.

A whiny Haiku
But can you really blame me?
Unless you live south.

Maybe next week’s post
Will be about the sunshine
We can [...]

You’d think I was a rookie…

Easter morning. Young son enters parents’ bedroom.
“Good morning, love! I think I heard the Easter bunny hopping around last night and I think he left something for you somewhere in here!” This is me, as brightly as I can be at 7:30 AM.
“You mean ’she,’” corrects my 6 year old. Um, yeah, sure, I guess [...]

Haiku Friday

Posted by: ainse on: March 21, 2008

I found this cool post over at A Mommy Story and thought I would give it a try:

Sleeping in this morn
No working on Good Friday
Here in Canada.

Poor U.S. people
They must go to work today
Get out of bed now!

Long weekend or short
Hide your eggs and eat candy
Happy Easter, all.
Ok, that was my first attempt at Haiku [...]

This Bed Ain’t Big Enough for the 3 of Us!

Posted by: ainse on: March 19, 2008

It’s the middle of the night, hubby & I are sound asleep. Suddenly, I hear that all-too-familiar pattern:

bang! (junior has left his bedroom and thoughtfully slammed his door shut behind him);
pad, pad, pad of little footsteps hurrying across the hall;
bang! (junior has once again thoughtfully slammed our bedroom door shut behind him); and [...]

Great Balls of Agate

Posted by: ainse on: March 16, 2008

I bought a strand of faceted agate awhile back. I’d made one bracelet, then the rest of the poor little stones just sat there, neglected. Sometimes my problem with creating is that I buy the beads and then love to just look at them, with no idea about what to actually make. Sometimes I worry [...]

Rrrroll up the Rim to LOSE…

Posted by: ainse on: March 12, 2008

…would be a better contest name. Apparently, I have a 1 in 9 chance of winning? Really? Are you sure? Because I’ve had WAY more than 9 coffees since the stupid contest started and those stats are not working for me.

It might as well say, “Please play again, SUCKER.”

So, about Spring…

Posted by: ainse on: March 9, 2008

…is it coming this year? ‘Cuz I don’t think so. I’m thinking that by the time this snow melts, we might already be into summer.

It snowed last week — that nice, pretty, kind of snowfall that covers up the mucky stuff without being too harmful — and my backyard looked like this:

Then, THE BLIZZARD hit [...]

A New Style

Posted by: ainse on: March 9, 2008

After some fumbling around, I’ve come up with a design that I quite like. The fun part is choosing just the right stones; not all nestle so nicely between the chips. Also, I enjoy trying to coordinate the colours. The results:

So far I’ve sold one to my sister-in-law, given two [...]

Let the cleansing begin

Posted by: ainse on: March 7, 2008

Writing the post about the ridiculous number of sites I’ve joined has put things in perspective for me. What do I want? What am I about? Do those sites really fit my needs?

So I went on a rampage. Delete, delete, delete. Wow! How liberating!

No more signing up for anything without careful consideration about how it [...]
